How do you refill a an insulin pen with a lantus cartridge

Refilling your insulin pen with a lantus cartridge is going to be very easy if you follow these steps below;

1. The first thing you will have to do is to completely push the dosage knob in. if you don’t push the dosage knob in completely the cartridge will not release anything at all.

2. Remove the old cartridge and throw it away for it is no longer useful. Removing the old cartridge is easy all you have to do is press the release cartridge button.

3. Makes sure you inspect your new cartridge and check if there are any particles in your insulin and that the expiry date has not passed. Always ensure you have the right insulin type.

4. Hold the pen and then push the dosage button in and make sure it is completely in and the cartridge release button is above it.

5. Push the new cartridge into the insulin pen. When the cartridge has completely entered into the pen you will hear a clicking sound which is a signal that it has completely entered.

You will have to take special care not to try and force the cartridge in. if the cartridge refuses to enter it means it will not be seating correctly the best thing to do will be to completely remove the cartridge and place it in again. You may twist the cartridge a little bit so that it can perfectly seat in, the clicking sound will let you know all is ok.
